This question does not have one definitive answer. On the one hand, you want to get as much information as possible to make the right decision. If this was the only consideration, you could set the time limit for micro stop to 0.
On the other hand, you have people that need to code stops accurately. RS Production makes stop coding easy and efficient, but if the stop is too short, will the operator even have time to reflect and understand the reason?
Generally, we recommend setting the time limit to a few minutes. After some time, discuss together with operators if the setting is still relevant or if it should be decreased.
There are two clear indicators that you should decrease your micro stops time limit:
- When micro stops represent a considerable part of the overall downtime and hence might hide your potential.
- When operators are communicating that there is much downtime due to a reason not visible in reports, and thereby could be hiding amongst micro stops.
